The Area
Casarossa Hotel, located between the town center and the archaeologic site of Capo Colonna, stands in the Geosito of Vrica, which is full of terraced areas, interrupted by impressive argillaceous formations, originally beneath the sea, named Calanchi. This unique landscape is the result of a continuous modelling action that has been working for five million years, giving to our hills their typical lunar appearance. The coast overlooks the natural reserve of Capo Rizzuto, with its crystal-clear water, its fine titian red sand and its steep and wild rocks that blend with the changing colours of the sky. This landscape seems to emanate the ancient scents and the memories of history. That's what the nature reserve offers to the visitor: a trip through history, legend, myth and archaeology, as well as outstanding natural beauty. |
